The victim of a ruthless domestic assault at a motel in Fairless Hills has died, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.

Jamie Beighley, 39, passed away at Jefferson Bucks Hospital Sunday afternoon. Officials did not make her death public until Tuesday. A family member informed 1490 WBCB Beighley is an organ donor.

After Beighley’s death, her boyfriend of 19 years is facing a homicide charge, along with other charges. Evan Smith, 37, is currently remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility on $500,000 bail.

Smith’s charges stem from a violent incident last week at New Falls Motel on Lincoln Highway. The couple had recently been staying in one of the motel’s rooms, according to authorities.

Police responded to a call of a person in cardiac arrest Thursday evening shortly before midnight. However, they found a much more gruesome scene.

Officers report finding Smith performing CPR on Beighley on the floor of a motel room. An affidavit claims Smith told officers, “things got out of hand tonight.”

Smith allegedly became combative and fled the scene. He got into his car and drove away, nearly hitting an ambulance arriving at the scene head on, according to court documents.

Beighley did not have a pulse and was unresponsive. She had several injuries to her head, face, and hands. Once first responders established a pulse, they transported her to the hospital.

Further medical examination revealed Beighley had likely been strangled. Her head trauma may have also resulted in a brain bleed.

Police attempted to pursue Smith as he fled, but quickly ended the chase. Instead, officers arrested him the next day near Hunter Drive in Morrisville.

Court documents claim Smith admitted to strangling Beighley during a domestic dispute. An officer noted he also had cuts and scratches on his face.

Smith told officers he had found a “meth rock” on the floor of the motel room earlier Thursday, according to the affidavit. The couple decided to use the drugs before running an errand.

They stopped at the liquor store on their way home and were having a “heated verbal argument.” After getting back to the motel, they began drinking.

The verbal argument allegedly turned into a physical altercation. Police say Smith admitted to strangling Beighley with both hands until she fell unconscious.

Court documents say he moved the victim from the bed to the floor, then called 911. Some time between the call and officers arriving at the scene, Smith began performing CPR.

Along with a homicide charge, Smith also faces charges of Aggravated Assault, Strangulation, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Simple Assault, and Fleeing and Eluding.
