Falls Township Community Park will be filled with light next month as the 1000 Lights Water Lantern Festival makes its way to Bucks County on June 15.
Instead of the typical lanterns that rise into the sky, the west coast based company will have lanterns illuminating the park as they float. At dusk, the rice paper and wood based lanterns will be launched into the lake.
Water lantern kits will be for sale at the event for 10 to 13-year-olds for $13, and $25 for adults. Each kit includes entertainment access, one lantern, and a decorating kit. Children 10 and under are free.
1000 Lights reached out to Parks and Recreation Director Brian Andrews to pitch the idea. Andrews is happy to bring this unique event to the Falls Township community.
“Nobody else is doing this around here, and I thought it was a cool activity to offer for the summer,” Andrews said. “I’m excited to do it.”
Festivities begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 15. The evening will include live music, high stakes bingo, activities for the kids, and food truck options. Activities will wrap up at 9 p.m.
Andrews confirmed the park will remain open to the public during the festival.
