United Way of Bucks County will not be having its annual casino night fundraiser this April due to the coronavirus. The non-profit is delaying the event for at least several months.
Director of Financial Stability & Health Tim Philpot joined UpWords with Chris Ermer to discuss the decision.
“Due to an abundance of caution, given the current coronavirus outbreak, it’s a hard decision, but we’ve decided that we need to postpone this event.”
The event, called Bet on Success, raises money for Pre-K scholarships. UW Bucks started the fundraiser
Philpot said the casino night fundraiser will likely be held the first or second week of September.
“If there is anybody out there who has already bought tickets or donated, we are certainly happy to reimburse them,” said Philpot. “But we’d also love it if they would hang in there with us and let us do our thing in September.”
The Bet on Success fundraiser will be held later this year at SUEZ-Water Technologies & Solutions in Feasterville. It offers casino games, auctions, raffles, and other activities.
The recommended donation is $100 per person, or $85 per person in groups of six or more. This includes $50 in starter chips, dinner, a dessert bar, signature cocktail, and drinks.
Anyone who wants to plan ahead can try to sign up for September’s event by calling 215-949-1660 ext. 114. They can also go to www.uwbucks.org/betonsuccess.
