The Wall in Bucks County is concluding their multi-year effort with a donation of more than $31,000 to local and national veterans causes, along with a presentation at Senator Tommy Tomlinson’s office in Bensalem.

Veterans were invited to the presentation, during which it was announced that the Wall committee has approved a donation to the Vietnam Traveling Wall Memorial for the purchase of two panels. These panels will allow the Traveling Wall to be updated with names of servicemen and women who have passed since the creation of the Wall.

This makes it the only traveling memorial with every single name of Vietnam veterans who have passed away, being completely accurate to its counterpart in Washinton D.C.

These additions and the Wall’s presence in Bucks County were both made possible by donations, explained Committee Chairman, Ed Preston

“When I first brought the idea to my committee I was told two things,” he shared. “One, you’re crazy and two, that’s a lot of money. How are you going to raise it?”

Preston assured he never had any doubts, saying, “When people hear what we’re going to do for veterans they’re going to help us.”

Contributions from local business and corporations were influential in raising funds, and Preston expressed that even private citizens were willing to give in support of the Wall.

“There were families, hundreds of families that sent in, twenty dollars, fifteen dollars to support our veterans. So, the money came from all over Bucks County, literally, in all kinds of numbers.”

After 18 months of fundraising, the committee reached their goal and the Wall made its appearance in Bucks County. Upwards of 25,000 people visited during its 3-day stay in Penndel, in July of 2017.
