Batten down the hatches: The Doomsday Clock is closer to the big bang, more so now than at any point since 1953. Ponder that. This gloomy news was just released by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, motivated by the development of the first nuclear weapons during World War II.
Seems the doomsayers are out to give me nightmares once again since moving the clock’s hands to two minutes to midnight — on the brink of the Apocalypse, for goodness sake. Well, you can blame President Donald Trump.
In a statement he made the rounds of the liberal media this week, the atomic/doomsayers said the danger is so obvious and so imminent because of our president and climate change, or his attitude toward climate change.
But they also said the opportunity to reduce the danger is in our hands. For instance, you can use the power of the internet to thwart the misuse of information technology, for one, and demand action to reduce the threat of nuclear war, now. You’ll have to zero in on the president and other world leaders who fail to deal with these threats, of course. Actually, they mean eliminate nukes. That’s another story – do the bad guys get to have all the nukes, then? What about the guy in North Korea, the one with the “rockets?.” He got a mention.
But it is the second time President Trump was cited as the reason for moving the clock’s hands closer to midnight. The last time was 2017 after his election, of course. They said he “promised” to impede progress on nuclear weapons and climate change.
So the rules are clear, to save the planet we need to become anti-nuke and anti-Trump and worry, worry about climate change. And while you’re at it check out the copycat Democrat Impeachment Clock. It’s ticking. Any connection?
