The snowstorm of Jan. 4 has left many districts in Bucks County closing their doors for the second day. Townships across Lower Bucks declared snow emergencies lasting until various times Friday or late Thursday.

Winter storm Grayson blew up the east coast with winds reaching 40 to 50 mph in Bucks. The extremely low temperatures going as far as North Carolina, in Raleigh-Durham it hasn’t reached 9 degrees since the 1800s.

Until 7 a.m. Jan. 7, Bucks County is still on a “Code Blue” alert since the Emergency Management Agency extended the declaration on Dec. 27. The weekend ahead shows freezing weather dropping into negatives, but by next week temperatures will break the mid-40s.

The following Bucks School District will be closed Friday, Jan. 5:

  • Bensalem
  • Bristol
  • Bristol Borough
  • Bucks County Techincal School
  • Bishop Conwell-Egan High School
  • Council Rock
  • Morrisville
  • Neshaminy
  • Newtown Friends
  • Pennsbury
  • Villa Joseph Marie School

The Morrisville Senior Center will also be closed Jan. 5.
