The Yardley of ShopRite is continuing its tradition of helping people in need through its fifteenth annual “Bagging For Hunger” event held all day today, which gives to people who are food insecure. The fundraiser donates a portion of its sale to the business’s Partners In Caring fund, which provides food to local food pantries.
To highlight a local business helping those in need, Pat Wandling and Mayor Chris Harding hosted their shows “Speak your Piece” and “Yardley on Air” live from the floor of the Yardley of ShopRite to bring awareness to the good works.
Patti Smith, the assistant General Manager of the business talked about her 40 years of working for ShopRite and this event.
“If someones bill is a dollar fifty, we ask them if they would round up to two dollars, and those fifty cents go to partners in caring,” Smith said.
She added that in just on the “round up” fundraising they have raised more than $5,000 for folks in need. “It’s a nice easy way to donate, its been very successful, and this is just our second year doing it ,” Smith said.
The mayor show brought some fireworks as Mayor Chris Harding interviewed the owner of ShopRite in Yardley who donated $1,000 to the borough to replenish their many holiday decorations that go on throughout Yardley.
