As SEPTA continues to transition to its Key Card program, the transportation organization has announced a new incentive for people to switch early.

The SEPTA Key Regional Rail “Early Adopters” Program will launch in August for anyone who travels to and from pre-selected Zone 4 stations. A station’s zone determines its ticket price and is designated based on its distance from Center City Philadelphia.

The program will be available for Monthly TrailPass customers for the month of August and go on sale July 20. The Key Cards will then be usable beginning August 1.

SEPTA will bring the Mobile Fare Kiosk truck out to the 19 Early Adopter stations so customers can buy a Key Card and a Zone 4 TrailPass. Customers will also be able to register their new Key Cards at these trucks to replace them in case of loss or theft.

The introduction of the program will serve as a period before the full roll out so people can adjust to the new system.

The 19 selected stations are on four lines, listed below.

  • Lansdale/Doylestown: Doylestown, New Britain, Chalfont, Colmar, Fortuna, 9th Street, Lansdale, Pennbrook, North Wales, Delaware Valley University and Link Belt
  • Paoli/Thorndale: Thorndale, Downingtown, Whitford and Malvern
  • Trenton Line: Bristol
  • West Trenton: Yardley, Woodbourne and Langhorne.
