Bucks County Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick and three other Members of Congress, Dr. John Joyce, of Pennsylvania,  Eddie Bernice Johnson, of Texas and Lauren Underwood, Illinois, introduced a bipartisan resolution, Thursday, designating March 1st as “National Healthcare Professional Appreciation Day.”

A national day of appreciation will honor the service and sacrifice of our healthcare heroes, Fitzpatrick said, noting March 1 st was the day the first American healthcare professional became infected with COVID-19.

Fitzpatrick said, “Our healthcare professionals put their lives on the line every day, and during the COVID-19 pandemic we have seen them go above and beyond to help their fellow man.” His words were echoed by the bill co-sponsors, one, a medical doctor, and another a nurse.

The congressman, also a certified EMT, said he comes from a family of healthcare workers, and sees “heroism” every day among frontline healthcare workers.
