In a horrible killing, the Bucks County District Attorney’s office is charging a man from Philadelphia for murdering his recently estranged ex-girlfriend in her Bristol Township apartment, knowing she was early in her pregnancy.
Jaleel Lamar Loper, 27, of Southampton Road was arraigned Friday night on charges of criminal homicide, criminal homicide of an unborn child, and related charges.
According to an affidavit, victim Anna Angok, 29, ended her relationship with Loper just hours before police received a phone call at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26th from an unidentified man pleading for officers to “hurry.” Officers found text messages revealing Loper knew about Angok’s pregnancy and believed she had aborted the fetus.
Loper claims he was with a friend at the time of the murder, but the alibi did not hold up to scrutiny as the friend says Loper did not arrive until 6:18 p.m.
Loper, employed in Bensalem, did not show up to his job Thursday, though he did leave four voicemails for a Bucks County detective asking about Angok and saying he was unable to get in contact with her or her family.
An autopsy revealed Angok had been strangled and found she was still pregnant at the time of her death. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 10th.
