A Pennsbrury student has won the first ever Bucks County Community College High School Short Fiction Contest.

17-year-old Melanie Nolan, a junior at Pennsbury High School, claimed the inaugural crown for her story ‘Among the Bones.’

“From the first line of ‘Among the Bones,’ I was pulled into this woman’s world,” a contest judge stated.

Second place went to Rachel Hoenisch, an 18-year-old senior at Neshaminy High School, for her story “The Huntress,” and third place was awarded to Marissa Klien, a 17-year-old senior at Central Bucks West, for her story “The Fates.”

All three winners have been invited to a celebration and reception from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29, in the Orangery building on the college’s Newtown campus.

The celebration is free and open to the public.
