Newtown Township Police Department is hosting a program to make owning guns safer for everyone. Project ChildSafe, nationwide firearms safety education program, is providing the department with firearm safety kits, which locals of Bucks County can pick up for free upon request.

In its mission to promote gun safety education, Project Childsafe has distributed more than 37 million firearm safety kits throughout the country since 2003. The program was developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

The safety kits are distributed in all 50 states and 5 territories.

The safety kit includes a gun lock, and will be available until supplies run out. Anyone interested can visit the Newtown Township Police Department or call 215-579-1000 for more information.
