Thursday is International Overdose Awareness Day and two events this week mark the day with a Bucks County focus on opioid addiction.

Wednesday, a tree-planting and remembrance ceremony will be held 6:30 p.m. at Steps to Recovery, 1400 Veterans Hwy., (Rt.413), Middletown Township. One speaker, whose son died of a drug overdose, will speak about the crisis, the need for care and the removal of the stigma of addiction. The public is invited.

Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, Bucks County DA Matt Weintraub and Bucks County Coroner Dr. Joseph Campbell will participate in a New Hope community workshop: “All Hands In for Addiction Prevention and Recovery.”

Open to the public, the meeting is scheduled Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Event Center –Cornerstone, 46 N. Sugan Road, New Hope. The sponsor, New Hope-Solebury Cares, requests those planning to attend email info@NHScares.org
