A new Director of Transportation will take the wheel for the Pennsbury School District starting August 10.
Ms. Milagro Aleman started as a bus driver for the School District of Philadelphia in 1995. Over the years, she worked her way up through various positions.
Since 2009, Aleman has worked for the SDP as Transportation Garage Operations Manager.
Some of her other qualifications include attending Philadelphia Community College, holding a C.D.L License, and taking part in SDP leadership training.
The Pennsbury School Board voted to appoint Aleman at the recent July 30 meeting. Superintendent Dr. William Gretzula spoke highly of her “abundance of experience” and “humanistic qualities.”
“Specifically, Ms. Aleman spoke of the importance of having a customer-service orientation and partnering closely with parents and students. This was confirmed to be genuine about Millie, as she has risen through the ranks. In the Philadelphia School District, she oversaw a large fleet of vehicles and a comparable number of staff members similar to Pennsbury.”
Current Director of Transportation Charlie Williams is retiring after 17 years with the district.
As the new director, Aleman will have the responsibility of overseeing the entire PSD bus fleet. This includes maintenance of the vehicles themselves as well as all personnel.
School bus routes and schedules are also under Aleman’s umbrella of tasks. With the coronavirus, she may also face the challenge of organizing transportation in line with CDC guidelines.
