A near-finished Republic Bank is causing a southbound lane closure on the Levittown Parkway before New Falls Road.

Nason Construction Inc. General Contracting has been working on the construction project for the last couple of weeks, but an end is in sight for local drivers who aren’t happy with the road closures.

“The project is expected to be finished by December 28,” Assistant Project Manager Matt McCutcheon said. “The lane should be back open by the 22 or by the weekend at the latest.”

Republic Bank used to be Commerce Bank, with Commerce founder and former CEO Vernon W. Hill II serving as an advisor and investor for Republic.

The site of the bank was formerly a playground for the YMCA.

Besides working on the building of the bank itself, Nason Construction is also working on the site work, the paving, and just about everything else in the area.

“For the most part everything is moving on schedule and according to plan”, McCutcheon said.

The Republic Bank will be located in Fairless Hills and will be open seven days a week, 361 days a year, with an extended lobby and drive-thru hours.
