Last weekend, September 16, Neshaminy field hockey alumnae took to their home turf for a friendly scrimmage.

The game was a great chance for those involved in the Neshaminy program over the years to join together for a commonality once a part of their everyday lives. The women split into six v. six teams with a goalie in one cage. Unlike some former games the Redskins battled, the score was an even three to three with no qualms over the “tie.”

Lisa Pennington, Varsity Head Coach, and Neshaminy Administrator said the high school is planning a bigger event for Fall of 2018. A picnic style afternoon with more game options could be in store for interested alumnae.

Personally, I dusted off my field hockey stick, borrowed my neighbor’s shin guards, stepped on the field for the first time in nearly five years, and it felt like nothing changed. Once a Neshaminy field hockey player, always a part of the Neshaminy field hockey family.

Neshaminy hasn’t hosted an alumnae game in a while, but teammates from the 1980s to 2015 were present for the action. The unique group of Neshaminy field hockey current and former players along with coaches left with a final “Skins on 3, Skins on 3, 1..2..3…SKINS” ring until next year.
