One man is dead after a hit and run on Route 1 in Falls Township early Thursday morning.

Police say a 34-year-old bicyclist from out-of-state was struck and killed near the Fairless Hills exit at about 1 a.m.

Officers found the vehicle they believe was involved abandoned further down the highway on the opposite side. They are searching for the car’s owner.

K-9 units scoured the area but were unable to locate them. Authorities believe the suspect may have been picked up by another motorist.

Police say the vehicle is a black 2006 BMW sedan. It is registered to a person from Trenton, NJ. They were not at home when officers checked the residence.

The highway was closed for about three and a half hours while police investigated the scene. PennDOT and the Morrisville Borough Police Department assisted in the investigation.
