A man who sexually assaulted the 7-year-old daughter of his host family while visiting from India will spend between three to 10 years in state prison, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday.
Sadashiv Walunj, 63, was welcomed into the Lower Makefield home in fall 2017 so he could visit his son living in New Jersey. The family hailed from the same village in India as Walunj, and referred to him endearingly as “Baba” while he slept in their home, ate their food. Unbeknownst to the parents, he was also molesting their daughter.
The assaults occurred on several separate occasions and involved Walunj using his fingers to insert into the girl’s genitals. After the man’s second visit to the home, the young girl informed her parents of Walunj’s actions.
Walunj immediately confessed to the crime when confronted by the father and the visitor was charged in December 2017. Even after his sentencing he has offered no explanation for his actions.
Bucks County Common Pleas Court Judge Rea B. Boylan sentenced Walunj Wednesday after he plead no contest. The agreement meant the victim would not have to recount her experiences in court.
