Police have taken a suspect into custody for his role in the fatal hit and run in Lower Southampton that killed 19-year-old Jessica Kurtz on November 27.
James Howell, 48, of Philadelphia, has been charge with
hitting and killing Kurtz while driving his mid-1990’s Ford F-150 pickup down Street Road near Philmont Avenue. Howell was also driving while his license was suspended or revoked before hitting Kurtz and another victim, who was not fatally injured.
Howell was arraigned by Magisterial District Justice Daniel Baranoski early Friday morning and sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.
Members of the United States Marshals Service, the Lower Southampton and Philadelphia Police Departments found Howell near 52nd Street and Haverford Avenue in West Philadelphia Thursday afternoon where he was taken into custody and transported to the Lower Southampton Police Department.
