Lower Bucks Braces For Heavy Storm, Townships Declare Snow Emergencies

Heavy snow falls on the WBCB 1490 station in January 2018.

With a snow storm likely imminent, townships in Lower Bucks are gearing up for heavy snow.

As of noon Sunday, the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service predict 16 to 22 inches of snow in the area. Along with the snow, winds may reach 35 miles per hour.

Snowfall has already begun in some areas, including Mercer County. Current predictions indicate it will continue through Tuesday.

Several townships have declared snow emergencies in anticipation of the heavy snow. From Lower Makefield to Bensalem, these declarations will likely last through noon Tuesday.

For residents, these declarations mean all vehicles must be off the roads and in driveways. People should also avoid driving anywhere except in cases when absolutely necessary.

Those who do not move their cars, trailers, boats, or other vehicles will face a fine. In some instances, they may be towed.

Bucks County has also declared a Code Blue to provide shelter for those in need. More information is available here.
