The Bucks County government has just received a large shipment of medical supplies for distribution throughout the area.

Thousands of masks and other gear arrived to the Emergency Operations Center in Ivyland Wednesday. The delivery included

  • 21,000 N-95 masks,
  • 21,000 surgical masks,
  • 1,700 face shields,
  • 1,600 surgical gowns,
  • and thousands of protective gloves.

County workers sorted the gear for different destinations including hospitals, long term care facilities, and police departments.

All of the N-95 masks and half of the surgical masks come from the federal government’s Strategic National Stockpile.

Emergency Services Director Scott Forster says all the equipment will be in local hospitals by the end of the week.

“These are materials that are very hard to get, and were obtained only after calling dozens of vendors,” as well as the state and federal governments, Forster said. “And little by little, everyone has come through to provide us with the equipment that our folks need to be sure that they’re safe while they take care of our residents.”

Forster also said additionally medical equipment will arrive in the coming days. Before the end of the week, he expects 10,000 N-95 masks, 2,800 face shields, 8,000 gowns, and more gloves. Next week, another 10,000 N-95 masks and cleaning supplies should arrive.

County officials will be hosting a live video press conference Thursday at 11 a.m. on the Bucks County Government Facebook page here.
