The I-95 northbound ramps for Woodhaven Road in Bensalem are still closed for repair following a monstrous blaze Thursday morning. At about 10:15 a.m., a tanker truck crashed, overturned, and caught fire, blocking off traffic for hours.

Plumes of smoke rose from the scene as firefighters fought for almost two hours. The oil-filled tanker truck gave plenty of fuel while also ensuring water would only spread the flames.

The road was literally on fire and must be ripped up and repaved before it is safe for use.

Escalated to a Hazmat situation, Penndel Fire Company #1, Station 8 called on their Foam and Rescue 8 unit.

It took an hour and a half for crews to bring the fire under control, but they remained at the scene for three hours to ensure everything was safe.

PennDOT later announced repairs would likely conclude at some point Friday night. TMA Bucks says the repaving operations should be done before 5 p.m.

As of Friday morning, two detours are in place. Motorists trying to exit onto Woodhaven should take Academy Road to U.S. 13 or Street Road to U.S. 13.

Reports indicate the area is a frequent accident spot as vehicles often fail to slow down appropriately for the turn.
