An official announcement will be made regarding the potential redistricting of Rolling Hills Elementary School at 7 p.m. tonight, but the decision parents fear is all but final.
Council Rock School Board President Ed Tate explained the rational behind closing the elementary school.
“In the best interest of the entire school district we cannot continue to operate 10 elementary schools with a declining student population,” Tate said.
Tate also explained why Rolling Hills is the being singled out.
“We did a really detailed data analysis and concluded the most appropriate school to close was Rolling Hills.”
Despite the students potential redistricting, Tate remains positive on what the future holds.“Whatever school the students attend it will be an excellent school,” he said.
The meeting will be held at the Chancellor Center located at 30 N. Chancellor St. in Newtown.
