A Falls Township Police officer seriously injured in a crash Saturday evening has been identified. There is also a sizable reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest of an involved suspect.

Officer Jeff Rhodunda was pursuing a motorcycle when his police vehicle careened off the Route 1 ramp to I-295 East. The motorcycle had been driving recklessly through a residential neighborhood, according to authorities.

Langhorne-Middletown Fire chief Frank Farry told LevittownNow the SUV slid, hit a tree, and came to a rest upside down.

First responders arrived to the scene at about 9:43 p.m. They spent 30 minutes trying to free the officer from the vehicle. This job was more difficult than usual due to “all of the equipment inside the vehicle,” according to the Fairless Hills Fire Department.

Once free, first responders transported Rhodunda to St. Mary Medical Center. A source within the department told WBCB News he will need surgery for his injuries.

Now, there is a $1,500 reward from the Police Association of Falls Township for anyone who has information leading to the motorcyclist’s arrest and conviction. Police say he was a male riding a royal blue sports bike.
