Falls Township Police Officer Jeff Rhodunda is back home safe and sound from the hospital.
The department veteran suffered serious injuries when his police vehicle flipped during a chase the evening of August 22.
Rhodunda was pursuing a motorcyclist on the Route 1 ramp to I-295 East. Police say the suspect was driving recklessly through a residential neighborhood.
The officer’s vehicle left the road and hit a tree before coming to a rest upside down.
First responders spent 30 minutes freeing Rhodunda then transported him to St. Mary Medical Center.
A photo of the officer back home shows him giving a thumbs up, but also in a wheelchair with a left leg brace.
“Thank you to everyone who has offered their well wishes and prayers,” said the Falls Township Police.
There is still a reward for anyone with information on the motorcyclist. The male suspect was riding a royal blue sports bike.
The reward from the Police Association of Falls Township, with contributions from other sources, is now over $5,000. Anyone with information can contact Police Sergeant Raymond Fanelli at 215-949-9100 ext. 439 or via email.
