The House Children and Youth Committee, led by Rep. Kathy Watson (R-144), will welcome Auditor General Eugene DePasquale, Monday at a special meeting to brief the committee on Pennsylvania’s struggling child welfare system. The “State of the Child” special report is an 80-page critical assessment of the child welfare system, based on a year-long review.

The auditor general’s report includes 17 recommendations for improvement and builds on the examinations of the system that the Children and Youth Committee has focused on in public hearings in recent years.

The session will be held in the Majority Caucus Room, 140. at the Capitol building, Harrisburg at 11 a.m., Dec. 4. -PW
