The Bucks County Government has a new department merging together the Workforce Development Board and the Economic Development program.
Newly appointed Executive Director Billie Barnes will lead the new Bucks County Office of Workforce and Ecorrnomic Development. Until the merger, Barnes had served as director of the former Workforce Development Board.
“This transition / merger will provide a streamlined and consolidated organizational structure,” Barnes said, “with a focus on eliminating duplication of effort, and efficient and effective delivery of services to maximize our support of Bucks County businesses and workers.”
The new department will continue working with PA Career Link to connect job seekers to employers.
This merger comes as a result of a report from the Bucks County Transition Team. The Bucks County Commissioners approved the merger last month.
The merger means the previous Workforce Development Board office in Bristol Township will close. The new department will operate out of the county office at 1260 Almshouse Road in Doylestown.
