The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office is touting this year’s drug take back day as a huge success.

Bucks residents dropped off 14,362 pounds of unwanted and unneeded medication Saturday. This shattered the previous record by more than 3,300 pounds.

In total, Bucks has collected nearly 152,700 pounds since it started in 2010.

What may have helped this year was the “Drive Up and Drop In” format due to the coronavirus. People could simply wait their turn without ever getting out of their vehicles.

The DA says everything collected will be incinerated in a process overseen by law enforcement from start to finish.
