All Bucks County parks will be reopening Monday after being closed due to coronavirus. The Bucks County Commissioners announced their decision during a video press conference Thursday morning.
County parks have been closed since March 24. But as spring warms up, more people have the urge to go outside.
“As the weather is getting nicer, we know people are itching to take advantage of the good weather and go to parks,” said Commissioner Vice-Chair Bob Harvie. He added people should be “smart” about using the parks.
The reasoning for closing parks was two fold. First, closing parks would make it easier to maintain social distancing. Additionally, any open parks would require county employees to work, potentially exposing them to the virus.
This decision would not affect any parks in other counties throughout the commonwealth. Many remain closed, including in Montgomery County.
The move to reopen county parks would also not impact state or municipal parks. More information on the Bucks County Parks and Recreation Department is available here.
Only the following parks would reopen:
- Core Creek Park
- Lake Towhee Park
- Peace Valley Park
- Playwicki Park
- Ringing Rocks Park
- Silver Lake Park
- Tinicum Park
- Tohickon Valley Park
