Bristol Road Bridge Reopening Before Memorial Day

Bristol Road Bridge is reopening this week just in time for Memorial Day travel.

The bridge passes over Route 1 in Bensalem and connects Old Lincoln Highway to Neshaminy Boulevard.

It’s been closed since last November as part of a long term project to widen and upgrade Route 1. Crews demolished the bridge and closed the road leading up to it.

Before its demolition, PennDOT estimated the bridge carried more than 12,500 vehicles each day.

The reopening should make life easier for people in the local area who want to get to Neshaminy Mall without getting on the highway.

The detour forced motorists out to Street Road, adding a few miles and 5 to 10 minutes depending on the trip.

Until the reopening, there will be periodic overnight lane closures on Route 1 in the area of Bristol Road Bridge this week.
