Bucks County Community College’s semester is coming to an end and the commencement speaker for the 52nd annual graduation ceremony will be one of the college’s alumnus.

The event will take place on Thursday, May 17 at 6:00 p.m in the Newtown Campus Gymnasium, located at 275 Swamp Road in Newtown.

West Chester University’s President Christoper Fiorentino, who studied and then taught at BCCC, will address roughly 1,000 graduating students as the commencement speaker.

Fiorentino started his education at Bucks County Community College before studying at Temple University. He took two courses in economics at Bucks before he graduated in 1973, which inspired him to pursue the field. He eventually earned his Ph.D. in economics while being an instructor at BCCC.

College president Dr. Stephanie Shanblatt will present Fiorentino with an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree at the ceremony.

Also speaking at commencement will be student speaker F. Sebastian Suarez-Avila of Warminster, who was chosen for his achievements at the college.
